Dad-of-three’s reaction to wife “unexpectedly” pregnant again caught on cam

A woman has shared her husband’s hilarious reaction to learning he was unexpectedly set to become a father for the fourth time.

Ragnheidur Vernhardsdottir, or Ragna as she is more commonly known, is an Icelandic medical doctor and pre- and postnatal trainer living in Norway. She creates videos and podcasts to educate moms about their health under the brand Baby Let’s Move.

Her content covers a wide array of issues facing moms today, but it’s a video focusing on one particular dad, Ragna’s husband, which has been getting attention of late. It captures the moment Ragna tells him they are “very unexpectedly” pregnant for a fourth time.

Her husband had understandable reasons for being shocked, which go beyond the obvious. “We’d been struggling with infertility for such a long time before we had our third,” she told Newsweek. “Our third had just turned 1, and I was still breastfeeding her without having resumed my menstrual cycle, so I didn’t even know that I was fertile again.”

Ragna added: “Of course, I knew that it was a possibility, but we just honestly thought that due to our previous struggles, it wouldn’t happen so easily.”

“Our fourth was a total surprise,” she writes alongside the video which, if her husband’s reaction is anything to go by, is something of an understatement.

Having a fourth child might sound like an impossibly daunting prospect to some, but Dr. Janet Taylor, a psychiatrist and mother-of-four herself, believes it might actually be easier than having three.

“There’s just not enough space in your head for perfectionism when you get to four or more kids,” Taylor told morning television show Today. “The more children you have, the more confident you become in your parenting abilities. You have to let go … and then you’re just thankful when they all get to school on time.”

In the clip, Ragna’s husband can be seen spotting the positive pregnancy test in their bathroom. Ragna can be heard laughing hysterically while he asks, in Norwegian: “You’re not pregnant?!!”

She tells him, “Yes.” He replies, “No,” and she says, “Yes,” again, to which he responds, “Stop it,” before looking over at their 1-year-old and quickly walking out of the room to try to process this information.

Ragna said they discovered the news after a weekend away watching their eldest son compete in a go-kart race. “I was bathing our 1-year-old and, when I was brushing my teeth, I felt oddly nauseous, and just because I had an old pregnancy test, I decided to take it … and then just, bam—positive!”

Shocked but eager to capture her husband’s response on camera, Ragna called him in and hit record. “My husband is rarely speechless,” she said. Despite that initial shock, she added that he returned to the room soon after and was nothing but excited about continuing to build their family together.

That video was filmed a little over two years ago but only recently uploaded to TikTok. Ragna is continuing to create videos and podcasts for Baby Let’s Move, albeit with an extra little one in tow.

Life as a mom-of-four can be tough, but Ragna is always mindful to make time for her and her husband to spend quality time not only with each other but also on themselves, whether it be exercise, self-care or hobbies.

Outside of that, a sense of humor and an acceptance that “things do not have to be perfect all the time” are key. “My advice to anyone considering a big family is to embrace the chaos and find joy in the mayhem,” Ragna said.
