The stat sheet shows that Betts went 0-for-3 at the plate yesterday, but he was walked once, and he ended the game with two HardHits.
He had a sacrifice fly that left the bat at 107.3 mph off the bat and another groundout that had an exit velocity of 98.6.
After a tough start to the playoffs for Betts, he came alive over the last couple games, with four home runs in the past three weeks, leading the Dodgers with a .340 ISO rate and 1.034 OPS.
The pitching matchup is against lefty Carlos Rodon of the Yankees, who was a home run target all regular season.
Rodon had a regular season HR/9 of 1.59, which was the fourth-worst in MLB. Betts is also historically better when facing left-handed pitching.
Look for Betts to stay hot at the plate tonight.
Mookie Betts 2+ bases (+120): 0.50 Units
Shohei Ohtani 2+ Bases (+115) BetMGM
Getting Ohtani at plus-money to get to at least two bases is a gift, one that we will gladly take advantage of for our second pick of the day.
The reason we are getting a decent price on this is due to Rodon being a left-handed pitcher. Generally, we would want target righties against him, while Ohtani himself is better when facing RHP.
With that said, it is not as though Ohtani is bad against lefties, to be clear.
In the playoffs, Ohtani is hitting .316 against left-handed pitching, with a .404 wOBA and 1.000 OPS. All three of those numbers would have been top-three in MLB in the regular season.
He has been red-hot in these playoffs overall, and that continued yesterday with two separate hits that left the bat at 100-plus mph exit velocity (EV).
In Game 1, he had a double that traveled 378 feet with an EV of 113.9 mph, which was the second-hardest hit of the game. He also had a flyout that traveled 373 feet at 106 mph off the bat.
Even against a lefty, backing Ohtani is the way to go tonight.
Shohei Ohtani 2+ bases (+115): 0.50 Units
Giancarlo Stanton Home Run (+285) FanDuel
Despite playing it safe being advisable in the World Series, Stanton is the lone exception when it comes to betting home runs. What Stanton has done at the plate over the last couple weeks has been, for lack of a better word, historic.
That continued last night, with a two-run home run that traveled 412 feet and was the hardest hit of the entire game at 116.6 mph EV.
He has now hit six home runs since the playoffs started, with an obscene barrel rate of 20.51 and HardHit rate of 70 percent. With Soto and Judge also in the lineup, pitchers have not been able to pitch around Stanton, and he has made teams pay.
The Dodgers starting pitcher tonight is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who struggled with injuries in the regular season and has been lit up in these playoffs.
He has a 5.11 ERA, and one of the biggest issues for him has been allowing home runs, which is not a great sign when facing Stanton.
Yamamoto’s HR/9 of 1.46 in these playoffs would have been the sixth-worst of all qualified pitchers in the regular season.
Look for Stanton to stay hot tonight.
